Sourcing Parts for a Car That's No Longer Made

SAAB stopped production in 2012, which means the parts supply chain looks very different than it does for cars you can still buy new. Dealer parts departments have largely dried up. Generic parts stores carry some basics (filters, brake pads, belts) but anything specific to SAAB often draws a blank look. Finding the right part requires knowing where to look, who still manufactures quality replacements, and which used parts are worth buying versus which ones aren't.

We've spent years building relationships with SAAB parts suppliers across the country and internationally. Orio (the successor to SAAB's original parts operation), specialty SAAB salvage yards, European aftermarket manufacturers, and fellow SAAB shops. We know who has what, who makes quality parts, and who to avoid. When you need a part, we can usually find it faster and for less than you'd spend searching on your own.

OEM, Aftermarket, and Used: Knowing What to Use Where

Not every repair needs a brand-new OEM part, and not every repair should use the cheapest aftermarket option either. We stock a mix of new OEM parts, quality aftermarket alternatives, and carefully selected used parts. For something like an ignition cassette or a direct ignition unit, we'll use OEM because the aftermarket options have a poor track record. For brake rotors or suspension bushings, there are excellent aftermarket options that match or exceed OEM quality at a lower price. For body panels, trim pieces, or interior parts that are no longer manufactured, a good used part is often the only option, and we know what to look for.

We stock parts for the full range of SAABs, from classic B-engine 900s through the GM-era 9-3s and 9-5s. The common maintenance and repair items we keep on hand so your car isn't sitting in the shop waiting for a shipment: ignition cassettes, DI cassettes, coolant hoses, water pumps, thermostats, brake components, suspension parts, belts, and filters. For the classic 900 crowd, we keep things like valve cover gaskets, clutch components, and turbo parts that are getting harder to find every year.

Having parts on the shelf means faster turnaround on repairs. When your water pump fails on a Monday morning, we'd rather have it fixed by Tuesday than wait until Thursday for a part to arrive. That's why we invest in inventory. It's better for you and it's better for the cars.
